LIVILANDS Mens won their fifth consecutive league match by beating Falkirk 8-4 at home last Thursday.
First couple Colin Mathewson and Graham Melville were once again in fine form and won a closely-contested match against M Smith and D Fisher by 7-6, 7-5. An easy 6-2, 6-1 win for Fraser Stirling and Kenny Bowie over A Taylor and C Sinclair combined with 4-6, 6-4 result for Pete Kelly and Jim Duchart against G Watson and A Gibson left Livilands in a strong position, leading 5-1 after the first round. Mathewson and Melville kept up their high standards and went on to win their remaining two matches while Stirling and Bowie dispatched Watson and Gibson 6-0 but lost out to Smith and Fisher.
In Division 3, David Hall and Brett Mackay were Livilands Seconds star performers, winning all four sets to lead the team to a 8-4 success away to Stirling Thirds to stay top of the league at the halfway stage.. The Third team sit in second place in Division 4 after a 6-6 draw at home to Bridge of Allan Thirds.
In Ladies Division 1, there was also a 6-6 draw at home to Bridge of Allan with Lindsay Brooks and Olwyn Roy winning three sets and Anne Coyne and Judith Ramsay taking two. The Third Ladies team lost at home to Dunblane Seconds in Division 3.
Livilands Under 16 Boys team of Scott Morrison, Robert Morrison, Jamie Paterson and Callum Wynd are top of the league after a convincing 6-0 win away to Dollar.
