LIVILANDS’ men continued their winning way with a 12-0 whitewash of Stirling on Thursday in a match played in almost continuous rain.
Ross Carstairs and Gary Melville got the team off to a flying start with an impressive 6-3, 6-4 win over R Dalgetty and C Livingston and Graham Melville and Kenny Bowie were easy 6-0, 6-2 winners over T Cuningham and I Hanley.
Colin Mathewson and Pete Kelly were pushed hard by J Wartig and M Ziaja before edging through 6-4, 6-2. Melville and Carstairs had little trouble winning their remaining two matches, while Mathewson and Kelly did well to come through 7-6 in a tie-break against Dalgetty and Livingston, before winning 6-0 against Cunningham and Hanley.
Melville and Bowie easily beat Wartig and Ziaja before completing the whitewash with a 6-4 win over Dalgetty and Livingston. Livilands are still out in front in Division One with three matches left.
Livilands ladies did well to grab a 6-6 draw away to Dollar to leave them still just one point behind both Dollar and Bridge of Allan.
Trailing 5-4 after two rounds, Anne Coyne and Judith Ramsay won 6-4 against L Lawson and J McLachlan to win their third set of the night.
Carol Davidson and Lindsay Brooks beat I Roberts and L Parts 7-6 in the final match to snatch a draw for their team.
Livilands 2nds and 3rds ladies were 8-4 winners against Stirling 2nds and 3rds respectively. Nuala Hutchinson and Diane Gladstone won all four sets for the seconds, while Gill Bowers and Laura Kelly won three sets for the third team, as did Rachel Livingston and Susan Kelly.
