YOUNGSTER Josh McDonald is the first recipient of a new martial arts award which commemorates a local man who died 20 years ago.
The Adrian Wallace Memorial Shield will be awarded to the most outstanding Aiki-jitsu junior student of the year.
Adrian was killed in a road accident in 1992 and the shield was donated by Julia McDonald of local company Forget Thee Not Memorials.
Senior instructor Ally McLean, 5th dan, said: “I am so proud of Josh as he has worked hard and tirelessly and shown a fantastic commitment to his training. He is an inspiration to all of the young students who train in the discipline and also to the clubs and his family.”
