STIRLING’S indoor bowlers are still searching for their opening victory after losing to Tweedbank by 22 shots in last Saturday’s Scottish League First Division match at Galashiels.
Stirling found the going tough, trailing the Borderers for the entire match and finishing with just one winning rink - David McEwan sen., James Brown, Kris Storf and Jim Flannagan finishing 32-10 ahead of A White.
Charlie Gibson, Rae Duncan, Jason Williams and Stuart Dalrymple lost 20-23 to S White, while Aaron Hazel, Dougie Kerr, Pat Martin and Bryan Stillie lost 11-30 to K Johnston.
Also losing were Gary Malcolmson, David McEwan jun., David Stewart and Danny McCormick who went down 9-31 to R Crawford. Totals: Tweedbank 94, Stirling 72.
There’s a break from league action this weekend to make way for the playdowns in the National Singles championships.
STIRLING’S indoor ladies struck top form last Saturday when the defeated Cumbernauld by no less than 70 shots in a Scottish League match at Stirling. Scores (Stirling skips first): M Falconer 38, S Allan 8; M Monteith 38, R McIntyre 5; N Palmer 13, A Cairnie 16; J Watson 26, J Miller 16. Totals: Stirling 115, Cumbernauld 45.
STIRLING & District Ex-Presidents played their annual indoor match against Causewayhead BC last Sunday - and won by 58 shots.
