A FURTHER two points were dropped away from home last Saturday when Stirling indoor bowlers failed to overcome Whiteinch in a fiercely contested Scottish league match.
From their opening four matches, Stirling have taken just three points with a win and a draw at home. They also lost out on their previous away day at Tweedbank.
Saturday’s encounter saw Stirling trail 35-38 at the halfway mark and then lead by five shot with 15 ends completed. With just three ends remaining Stirling had slid behind 61-65, but it was the determined homesters who produced the better finish to run out 13-shot winners.
Stirling ended with just one winning rink. Gary Malcolmson, Ian Gillies, Sandy Deans and Danny McCormick triumphed 29-10 against T Fox.
David McEwan jun., Dougie Kerr, Kris Storf and Bryan Stillie lost 12-21 to P Murray; Charlie Gibson, David Stewart, Jason Williams and Stuart Dalrymple lost 15-30 to S Sloan while David McEwan sen., James Brown, Pat Martin and Jim Flannagan went down 11-19 to G McCartney. Totals: Stirling 67, Whiteinch 80.
There’s a break from Scottish league action on Saturday to make way for the national junior singles playdowns. Stirling’s next match is at home to Bainfield on Saturday, November 14.
