Stirling indoor bowlers defeat Alloa

FOR their final Scottish league match of the year Stirling indoor bowlers headed for the Alloa stadium last Saturday in what turned out to be a highly competitive encounter.

But it was Stirling who took the points with a hard-earned four-shot victory with only one rink losing out.

David Stewart, Billy Guy, David Mathieson and Danny McCormick won 21-15 over Gary Graig, while Charlie Gibson, Dougie Kerr, Jason Williams and Bryan Stillie finished 22-21 ahead of Ian Inglis.

Ian Gillies, Brian McLaughlin, Gary Malcolmson and Sandy Deans peeled 21-21 with Alan Morrison, while David McEwan sen., James Brown, Stuart Dalrymple and Jim Flannagan lost 15-18 to Alan Murray. Totals: Stirling 79, Alloa 75.

Stirling now take a festive break until their next match on January 16 against Whiteinch.

EX-PRESIDENTS

STIRLING & District Ex-Presidents played their annual indoor match with Bannockburn BC last Sunday – and won by 24 shots.

Scores (Ex-Presidents skips first): W Glen 12, J McDonald 23; R Whitfield 30, D Laird 9; R Davidson 21, J Carroll 22; S McFarlane 16, B Stillie 29; W Hardie 31, M Hamilton 7; D Craig 23, R Kelly 19. Totals: Ex-Presidents 133, Bannockburn 109.

SENIORS

IN their latest Scottish league fixture Stirling Senior gents played at Headwell resulting in a 13-shot victory for Stirling.

A friendly seniors match against Balbardie was also played and the scores were: J Bingham 7, D Smith 13; J Reid 19, S Spalding 11; D Craig 17, A Riley 8; S Neave 11, P Rankine 13. Totals: Stirling 54, Balbardie 45.
