STIRLING indoor bowlers had a good away day last Saturday, when they defeated East Fife by 16 shots in a Scottish league match at Methill. They finished with four undefeated rinks.
David McEwan jun, Billy Guy, Dougie Kerr and David Stewart won 28-19 against Chris Stein, while James Brown, David McEwan, Derek Logie and Gary Malcolmson won 21-17 against Willie Wyles.
Also winning were Ian Gillies, Brian McLaughlin, David Mathieson and Bryan Stillie with an 18-15 success over J Forrest.
Earning a 22-22 draw were Scott Craig, Jamie Grant, Stephen Pearson and Jason Williams against G McKay. Totals: Stirling 89, East Fife 73.
There is a break from league action this weekend to make way for the national singles, junior singles and two-bowl pairs finals at Ardrossan.
Other local results last Saturday saw Fintry defeat Portobello 81-67 while Alloa are still looking for their first Premier points after going down 54-91 to East Lothian.
Falkirk kept up their challenge in the Premier division by defeating Aberdeen 93-69. Scores: S Glen 25, J Douglas 13; T Cochrane 27, K Pirie 17; S Thomson 25, M Stephen 16; G Flynn 16, S Thomson 23.
Stirling ladies’ five-match winning run in the Scottish league came to an end on Saturday when they lost 71-84 at home to Fintry.
In their Scottish senior gents’ match played at Fintry last Wednesday Stirling lost to the west Stirlingshire bowlers 66-54.
The David Gourlay Roadshow, featuring all kinds of bowls essentials, rolls into the Stirling indoor stadium tomorrow (Thursday).

STIRLING and District Ex-Presidents played the first leg of their annual match with Fife Ex-Presidents last Sunday – and won by 62 shots.
