STIRLING County West bowlers will swing back into action on Sunday as they prepare for their forthcoming Scottish Cities and Counties Championship (Hamilton Trophy) campaign.
The Blackford green is the venue for their opening practice match, when they line up against Perthshire. All invited players should report no later than 1.30 for a 2pm start.
Following the past two disappointing seasons, when they failed to qualify for the knock-out stages, County West will be keen to get off to a good start when the contest starts on Saturday, May 12. Their opening opponents will be local rivals Clackmannan and Kinross on the Riverside green.
On May 19 County meet Lanarkshire West at Kilsyth, while on May 26 they travel to Troon to take on Ayrshire.
Dumbartonshire West supply the opposition at the Spittalmyre green on June 2, while on June 9 County West head to the Bogleha green at Dunoon.
On June 16 Glasgow West will line up at Dunblane, while County’s final west section match takes place on June 23 against Renfrewshire West at the Renfrew green.
STIRLING bowlers were visitors to the Bannockburn green last Saturday and won the annual match by 12 shots.
Scores (Bannockburn skips first): C Ivatt 8, B Weir 22; D Laird 8, S Hope 31; T Chapple 25, T van Heusden 11; A Meldrum 22, J Miller 11.
Totals: Bannockburn 63, Stirling 75.
THE Polmaise green was the venue for the club’s annual match against Borestone last Saturday. The hosts won by 35 shots.
Scores (Polmaise skips first): D McCormick 26, D Kerr 13; P Black 29, B McLaughlin 14; S Deans 16, G Toner 20; G Malcolmson 27, A Allan 16. Totals: Polmaise 98, Borestone 63.
ON April 25 Livilands played Cambusbarron and lost by 15 shots.
Scores (Livilands first): James Paterson 4, John Ferguson 18; Peter Miller 4, Drew Paton 9; John McLellan 8, Stevie Witton 6; George Tanish 8, David Ferguson 6.
Totals: Livilands 24, Cambusbarron 39.
SUNDAY’S visitors to Borestone were Central Scotland Police and they ran out 16 shot winners 64-40.

SPITTALMYRE played Bridge of Allan last Saturday and lost by 12 shots.
