POLMAISE bowlers recaptured the Stirling County Top Ten title last Sunday with an impressive 6-2 victory over Carron and Carronshore.
The final, played at the Carron green, saw Polmaise emerge with victories in the singles, pairs and triples to take the prized silverware for the eighth time – the last being in 2010.
Singles man Jason Williams scored a 21-15 win over Steven Glen in a high-quality encounter. With scores locked at 13-13, Jason carded a 3,1,1,1,1 run to put him on the brink of victory. He was made to wait another three more ends before sealing the win.
Polmaise pairing David McEwan and Sandy Deans were in dazzling form right from the start and raced to stunning 30-7 success over Willie Laird and Gary Rowan.
It was a similar story in the triples, where Kevin Paterson, Peter Black and Gary Malcolmson were always in command. They finished worthy 18-5 winners over Brian Walker, Brian Docherty and Alex Sinclair.
Carron’s points were picked up in the fours, with Dougie Thomson, John Halcrow, Scott McKenna and Alastair Penn winning 20-12 against James Brown, John Binnie, Derek Logie and Danny McCormick.
Finals totals were: Polmaise six points and 81 shots, Carron and Carronshore two points and 47 shots.
DENNY’S Karen Dawson and Stuart Hogg won the Scottish mixed pairs title at Edinburgh’s Bainfield greens last weekend.
The internationalist pairing saw off the early challenge from Aaron Hazel and Rita Smith (Polmaise), winning 21- 10. They then carded victories over Kilmacolm (24-5), Fairlie (17-13) and Aberchirder (26-7).
In Sunday afternoon’s final Karen and Stuart won 21- 14 over Anne-Marie Fletcher and John Adam from the Paisley Victoria club.
DUNCAN OGILVIE TOURNAMENT
WINNERS of the Duncan Ogilvie Tournament were Spittalmyre BC with seven points and 19 shots. Runners- up were Polmaise BC with seven plus 18.
THE annual match against Dunfermline BC, for custody of the Campbell Bannerman Trophy, was played last Saturday at the Stirling green.

JUBILEE Triples winners were C McLeod, C Drummond (Menstrie) and D McCormick (Polmaise). Runners-up were R Goldie, R Docherty and R Boyd (Patons).
Losing semi-finalists were F Swift, A Aitken and A McLean (Spittalmyre) along with A Johnstone (Spittalmyre), B Innes and J Flannagan (Patons).
WINNERS of the Condorrat Triples competition (two juniors and one adult) were Katelyn McIntyre, Gregor Wightman and Katie McNaughton (Dunblane BC). Runners-up were Alva South’s Robert Hunter, Lawrence Kennedy and Conor Kelly.
Losing semi-finalists were Causewayehead’s Conun Clarke, George McLuskey and Morgan Williams, along with Calum McNaughton, Alex Oliver and Kalon McWatt (Dunblane).
IN A rearranged match Polmaise were the winners by eight points plus 28 shots. Runners-up were Cambusbarron with six points plus 45 shots.
The honorary secretary thanked everyone involved in keeping the MacIntosh Trophy going.
