Braehead net seven

ST NINIANS 1

BRAEHEAD 7

BRAEHEAD claimed the three points following a hard fought league fixture in blustery conditions in St Ninians.

The driving rain made conditions difficult but both sides attempted to play attractive football. Braehead had more of the play in the initial stages and it was no surprise when they took the lead on 20 minutes following a fine strike from Paddy McGuigan.

Braehead doubled their lead when Stuart Alexander struck from 15 yards but St Ninians kept battling away and they reduced the deficit on 35 minutes following a fine individual effort from David Miller. Braehead's response was swift and minutes before half time a fine cross from Lee Statter was met by Scott McKenzie who headed the ball into the net from five yards.

Braehead were on top for most of the second half and made a number of chances. They found the net on a further four occasions. Paddy McGuigan completed his hat-trick and Paul McKinlay and Malcolm Thomson also grabbed goals.

Best for Braehead were Scott Binnie, Andy McLean and Donald McKinlay.

Braehead have a fixture this Saturday when they make their first appearance in the Daily Record Templeton Cup. They are at home to Lauders, 2pm.
