Borestone lose out

ST NINIANS BORESTONE 0

VENNEL 5

BORESTONE failed to adapt to the dismal weather on a very heavy Mayfield last Sunday and were swept aside in the opening 45 minutes of this FV Welfare League match by an impressive Alloa side who mastered the underfoot quagmire and deservedly went three in front by the interval.

The second half saw Borestone push forward and John Tuff, Kenny Smith and David Miller were all denied by some fine goalkeeping. Vennel finished the game strongly and added to their tally to run out deserved winners.

Both teams and the Referee are to be commended for their determination in horrendous playing conditions and congratulated on the spirit in which the game was contested.

Next Sunday Brander from Lossiemouth make the long journey to Mayfield for a Daily Record National Trophy second round tie with a 130pm kick-off.
