City players celebrate

STIRLING City Football Club’s season drew to a close at the Birds And Bees on Friday when committee, players, families and friends gathered together.

After a fantastic three-course meal served by the staff, chairman Barry Wardrop touched on a few points during the season and toasted the success of the club in winning the First Division League cup.

John Clarke was given a good send-off as he has now decided to head back home to Ireland with his fiancee. The club wish him every success in the future.

The main award of the evening was the player of the year and after earlier in the evening collecting the Top Goalscorer award with 36 goals this season, Robert Reid lifted the award. Runner up Jamie Dickson picked up the players’ player award and an accolade in which all his fellow players nominated him for.

Graeme Beveridge collected the trainer of the year award for his hard work and effort shown off the park and the final award went to Lee Wilson for goal of the season for his strike against California in then League Cup semi-final which just pipped Liam McColl's strike against Moodiesburn.

Overall, an enjoyable last season in the Stirling And District Amateur League where the club now look to strengthen and build as the move to the Foster's Central Scottish Amateur League.

The club thank those who have given time and effort to make the club a success away from the playing side – Gordon McPherson, Sandy Kerr, Alan Reid and Kevin Milne.
