Bannockburn get win over Doune Castle

BANNOCKBURN 3

DOUNE CASTLE 1

BANNOCKBURN collected all three points on Saturday in a tough league encounter against their local rivals to move back to the top of the league.

In the opening spell, it was all Bannockburn pressure as Bell and S Maitland both came close and the keeper saved well from McLellan. On the half hour mark, their pressure told when Knox finished well from close range to put the home side in front.

Just before half-time it was all square as the striker finished from 10 yards after a quick break.

The home side regained the lead on the hour mark after an excellent finish from S Maitland and the keeper again saved well from Bell and McGown.

The visitors then came close with a well struck effort from 25 yards that skimmed the crossbar, but Bannockburn finished the game off in style when Knox broke quickly and S Maitland fired home from an acute angle.

A great three points against a hard working Doune side.

Continued thanks to The Tartan Arms for their after match hospitality, especially from the under 13s side.

Bannockburn are away this Saturday against Windlaw AFC in the West of Scotland cup 3rd round, kick-off 2pm at Barlia Sports Centre, Castlemilk.
