FORTH went into this game knowing only a win would keep promotion possible.
Forth took the lead after 42 seconds when Callum Smith broke down the right, tried to square the ball for Bernard Hutchison at the back post, but a Denny defender tried to cut it out only to put in is own net.
Forth should have increased their lead when Smith broke through, only for the Denny keeper to block his two efforts.
Denny pulled level on nine minutes and for the next 25 minutes dominated the game but Forth defended well.
Forth started the second half fired up and took the lead in the 55th minute when Denny failed to clear their lines and Hutchison was at the back post to score.
Denny were finding it hard to cope with Smith's pace and he eventually got just reward on 60 minutes when he broke down the left, cut in and let fly, the ball hit the keeper but went over the line.
On 70 minutes Smith scramled home his second and scored his hat-trick on 86 minutes from the edge of the box. Man of the match was Callum Smith.
BRAEHEAD bounced back from a recent defeat by Stirling Uni to win three league games in a row by winning 5-1 against Slamannan, 4-1 against Tullibody and 5-2 against Stirling Boys Club.
