DOUNE Castle celebrated a highly successful season at their player of the year awards at Doune Castle Bowling Club.
They captured the East of Scotland Cup for the second time and won the Caledonian League First Division title, ensuring a return to the Premier Division at the first time of asking.
Season 2011-2012 also saw the launch of a Doune Castle side playing in the Stirling and District League Division 3 under the direction of manager Duncan Morrison.
Billy Feaks, a long-standing Castle stalwart, presented the awards. He began by presenting each of the Caledonian League squad with their championship medals and displayed the silver salver given to the club by the Caledonian League in recognition of their East Cup win.
Alan Inglis, who was top scorer with 52 goals in a remarkable season, won the Docherty Trophy for the player of the year and the Callum Ferrier Trophy for the supporters’ player of the year.
David Innes Stuart won the man of the match award and Graeme MacMillan won the Hurst trophy for the players’ player of the year.
The Stirling and District player of the year award was won by Jonathan Coubrough. Murray Docherty won the players’ player of the year trophy.
