WITH the Stirling Albion Under 19's fixture against East Stirling being subject to a late cancellation when the Falkirk club inadvertently organised an alternative event and the 13's game against Queen of the South falling victim to the heavy rainfall on Saturday, only two games took place this weekend.
The 15's team and the 17's both met Queen's Park at Forthbank in the sunshine of Sunday afternoon.
The fixture between the 15's and Spiders was a close affair, but the Stirling coaches were disappointed that the team could not better their performance. Sean Johnston scored for Stirling but Queen's Park managed an equaliser.
Congratulations are due to coach Ian McConnell who recently passed his SFA Level 4 Coaching Certificate.
Allan and Davy Adams are trying to arrange a friendly for next Sunday as there are no scheduled fixtures. A fixture against either Rangers or Celtic is a possibility. The following week the team visit Arbroath.
The Under 17 team recorded yet another excellent result in the SFL Irn Bru League when they defeated Queen's Park in the second Forthbank fixture on Sunday.
In a tight encounter Gary Morrison headed home the only goal of the game from a well constructed move and for the second week in a row the defence achieved a shut out to pick up all three points. Stirling have now won both their games since the disappointing result to Dumbarton three weeks ago and are sitting close to the top of the table.
There is no scheduled fixture for the 17's but a fixture against a Celtic side is a possibility for Sunday.
The 13's game against Queen of the South cancelled due to a flooded field may be rescheduled for Sunday, October 12. Failing that fixture taking place again the possibility of a game against Celtic is being considered.
The Under 19 team will play Dundee in the Scottish Youth Cup on the main stadium pitch at Forthbank on Sunday. Chairman, Peter McKenzie has agreed to the game being played on the grass surface and with Manager Allan Moore in attendance the team will be anxious to put on a good show.
The Annual Sportsman's Dinner for funds for the Youth Department is now being organised. It is on November 22, once again being held at Stirling Rugby Club at Bridgehaugh. Details on who will be entertaining guests and on prices and ticket availability will be available soon.
Hopefully local businesses and the team supporters will consider the purchase of a table for what is fast becoming a most popular annual event.
