WE are getting to the stage in the season when teams need to make their push for honours, whether that’s going for a title or gaining promotion.
We know that the race for the SPL looks like going to the wire, but what about the lower leagues?
St Johnstone maintain a healthy seven point advantage in the First Division where I think it’s their title to lose and their only real challenge will come from Dunfermline.
Cowdenbeath are in a strong position at the top of division three after a dramatic loss of form from nearby outfit, Stenhousemuir.
In the second division, it has been Raith Rovers have led the way for most of the season.
But I have to congratulate Stirling manager Allan Moore and his squad of players for the fabulous start they’ve made to the New Year.
Five straight wins have seen the Binos firmly establish themselves in the play-off spots. If they could continue in this rich vein of form, then they might just close the gap on the leaders.
It’s been an incredible turn around in fortunes and the wee man was rightly rewarded with January’s manager of the month award for the second division.
We all know that confidence comes from winning games and I’m sure that the players can’t wait to get back into action after a couple of blank weeks due to the weather.
Now’s the time then to get yourselves down to Forthbank and give your support to your local team. If they are to have any chance of bouncing back up again this year, they will need your help.
