STIRLING Albion made the trek to Ayr on Saturday and came home pointless.
The Reds were determined to beat the United side, who are currently at the top of the table, and they dealt the first blow when Martin Grehan scored.
But the home side soon levelled the score with a strike from 25 yards out, and they moved ahead during injury time at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Albion were reduced to 10 men when Sean Roycroft was sent off for a second bookable offence.
And it got worse for the Stirling side when Ayr United sealed their win with a final goal.
Stirling Albion's next game is on Saturday when they are at home to Stranraer.
