Celebrities line up back the Reds

THE campaign to buy Stirling Albion has been on a rural roadshow in recent weeks with visits to Drymen Agricultural Show and Kippen Street Fayre.

Tonight (Friday), the team will be at Port of Menteith Primary School as local hotelier Topher Nairn – whose brother Nick is also backing the campaign – tries to garner support.

Topher will be at the school from 6-8pm presenting all the primary pupils with buyStirlingAlbion memberships certificates, having bought 30 for all the kids!

As well as the presentation of memberships, Topher will be chatting to children and parents about the campaign; selling memberships and selling T-shirts.

Topher is the latest celebrity to back the campaign. Brothers Stephen and Gary Caldwell have given the fundraisers signed team shirts from Burnley and Celtic to help boost the campaign and on Saturday, TV design gurus Justin Ryan and Colin McAllister added their signatures to a celebrity shirt at Kippen Street Fayre.

Colin said: “I know a lot about football because my grandad played for St Mirren so I hope you save your local team.”

And Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford visited the stand at Kippen to add his congratulations on a fantastic campaign – and even suggested that he hoped to extract £40 from First Minister Alex Salmond!
