Clubs are gearing up for the new season

DUNBLANE NEW

MEMBERS are reminded the 2009 season will start on Saturday, March 21 with the traditional Captain v Vice Captain Shotgun Foursomes with one start at 8 for 8.30am and the second start at 12.30pm for 1pm.

The entry list for the morning is filling up but there remain a number of slots for the afternoon tee off. If you do not have a partner there is a list available for you to enter your name and, if at all possible, a partnership will be arranged.

The opening medal of the season will be for the Millennium Medal on Saturday, March 28.

The entry books for the various KO competitions, Gents’ Foursomes, Mixed Foursomes, Family Foursomes and the Louis Pope Memorial Trophy will be available from Monday, March 16 with the final entry date Easter Monday, April 13. Entry Fee £5 per competition.

As the tee times for visitors are fully subscribed it is intended to allocate tee times for the Muirhead Trophy, Senior Open, in early April and the Entry Lists for Dunblane members will be posted on Saturday, March 28.

There are only 44 spaces so members wishing to play should get their name on the list and pay the Entry Fee as soon as possible thereafter.

The Belhaven Trophy, Senior Mixed Open Foursomes, has been moved from its’ August date in previous years to Wednesday, May 20 this year. Entry lists will be available for members from Friday, April 3. There are still tee times available for visitors. Entry fee £10 per couple.

NEW LADIES

DUNBLANE New Golf Club Ladies Section have had two very successful social events this winter.

On February 5 we had a cooking demonstration from our resident chef Alec Summers which 55 ladies attended. Alec was good fun and the food was great.

On March 5 we had a dinner and the speaker this year was Gordon Niven, head golf coach at Stirling University.

Gordon was very entertaining and informative about his work at Stirling University. He was not fazed in the least by 62 lively ladies.

The sheets for the knockout draws will be posted on Monday, March 16 and the Opening Greensomes with the usual format of Captain v Vice-Captain will be held on Sunday, March 22.
