STIRLING SENIORS
ON April 27 Stirling were hosts to Last year’s Central and Lothian Retired Members League Champions Falkirk Tryst in their first home game of 2009.
Bruce Hunter (6) and Ian Muir (7) in match one recorded a fine win against Falkirk Tryst Captain, Alan McNab (6) and Jim Smith (7) to give Stirling the first win of the match.
R Cunningham (8) playing with J Blyth (8) in match two for Falkirk proved just too strong for Gordon Sinclair (10) and Tom Rose (10) winning by one hole to square the match.
Archie Young (11) and Ian Cockshoot (14) restored the Stirling advantage in a ding dong tussle in match three which saw the home side go from two up to two down then to 1 up before winning the 18th to give Stirling a two hole win and their second point to go one up in the match.
It looked good for Stirling when Brian Mulgrew (16) and Alan Taylor (16) reversed a three down after three holes situation to win on the 17th hole with a two and one victory to put the home side 3-1 up with two matches to play.
The Falkirk tail wagged really strongly in match five when J Cowie (13) and D Crombie (16) beat John Davidson (20) and Robin Limmack (20) 3 and 1 to bring the match score to 3-2 with only match six on the course.
Mike Fabisiak (21) and John Cable (25) fought hard against W Brodie (16) and J Welsh (19) but the Falkirk Tryst pair ended up two hole winners to give the overall match a halved result and one point apiece.
