STIRLING gents’ senior open saw 150 competitors representing more than 60 clubs.
Scoring was high, with only four competitors beating the par of 72. Early starter Trevor Boyd from the home club set a target of a net 67 and this proved to be too good for everyone else. Bill Cunningham of Alloa edged out his playing partner, George Smith of Kinross, to take second with a net 69 (bih). George took third place ahead of late starter Graham Manson of Stirling, who scored a net 71.
The Morton Trophy for the best Stirling score was also won by Trevor Boyd.

DUNBLANE
MEMBERS who played on Friday were the main winners of the monthly medal last weekend.
The best scratch score was a 66 from Andrew Grant, which reduced his handicap to 1.
In the first class Stewart Weir (10) won on 63 and bih than Keith Farthing (9). Third place went to Saturday player Derek Cullen (8) on 67 and bih than Ian Matthewson (3), who had a bl6 than Jim Crawford (6).
Sandy McDonald (12) won the second class on 66. Scott Muir (15) was second on 67 and third place went to Philip McRae (11) on 68.
In the third class Darrel Jones (20) edged out Greg Hall (18) on the BIH on 67. Third place went to Ronnie Parker (16) on 68.
The last midweek medal of the season was played on Wednesday and Andrew Grant was again the scratch winner with a 65.
The first class was won by James McIntyre (9) on 63. Runner up was John Brailsford (9) on 64 with young Cameron Buist (3) third on 65.
Elliott Stenhouse (18) won the second class on 65, with Ian Robertson (16) second on 66 and Andrew Godfrey (17) third on 69 and bih than Owen Hutchison (17).
Next weekend is the British Legion Trophy, with the Dobie Trophy on Sunday.

Seniors’ friendly versus Tillicoultry on August 31. This was the second leg for the Aitken Trophy. Although Braehead won this match 4-3, Tillicoultry retained the trophy.

CLACKMANNANSHIRE
WEE COUNTY boys will face Fife, Angus and Perth and Kinross in the Gary Harvey Trophy at Braehead this weekend.
The Midland Team Championship also takes place this weekend, over 36 holes at the Lansdowne course at Blairgowrie. The same teams are involved and Clackmannanshire are the holders.
On Monday Lawrence Allan from Alva Aacdemy will captain the Scottish Schools side against England at Kilmarnock Barassie.
