STIRLING

IN SATURDAY’S King George VI Bogey scoring was low enough to see the CSS come down to two under par.

The trophy was won by James Stewart with a fine score of 5 up, winning six of the first nine holes. He finished one hole ahead of five players. His closest rival in class two was James McPherson, whose strong back nine was not quite enough.

The honours in class one were shared by Phil Sneddon and Gerry Meldrum, who both finished on 4 up. Gerry had the better start and, although he could not maintain this form on the way home, earned another cut in his playing handicap.

In class three Roddy Morrison and Noel Masterson led the way on 4 up.

Results: class one Phil Sneddon (6) 4 up, Gerry Meldrum (8) 4 up, Jim Fisher (7) 3 up; class two James Stewart (11) 5 up, James McPherson (10) 4 up, Martin Davidson (10) 3 up, Pat Mooney (10) 3 up; class three Roddy Morrison (19) 4 up, Noel Masterson (14) 4 up, Kevin Cave (18) 3 up, Wraight Shepherd (14) 3 up, Mark Kelly (17) 3 up, Ian Cockshoot (14) 3 up, James Cannon (20) 3 up.
