Stirling represented at Euro touch rugby championships

STIRLING’S Touch Rugby Club were well represented at last weekend’s European Championships in France, with five players from the club taking part.

Larry Irwin, (Men’s Open); Euan Kerr and Colin Jardine, (Men’s Over 30s); Stuart Smith (Men’s Over 35s); and Yvonne Jardine (Women’s Over 30s), all participated in the event in Massy, just south of Paris.

There were two final appearances – for the Men’s 30s, and Men’s 35s – though all three Stirling players eventually had to settle for silver as they went down to England and Wales respectively.

The men’s open squad made it through to battle it out for the bronze medal but they were eventually pipped by hosts France.

The Women’s 30s faced up to their tough draw and though they didn’t get the chance to compete in the medal stages they did edge out the French side 2-1 in their pool match.
