HAVING tasted the sweet scent of success last Saturday against Hawick, Stirling County go into Sunday’s match at Bridgehaugh against Boroughmuir with an added air of confidence.
Now sitting only six points behind Hawick and Glasgow Hawks at the foot of Scottish Hyrdo Electric Premiership Division One, County face the reigning champions in a match which will be shown live on BBC Alba at 3pm.
The Meggetland side have blown hot and cold this season, already losing four matches with the latest being last Saturday’s 6-0 reverse at Selkirk.
Following ’Muir’s visit, County will face Sunday matches at home to Selkirk then away to Watsonians (also show live on BBC Alba) before tackling Edinburgh Accies at home on Saturday, November 29 and coaching convener John Wright is looking to win at least three of the four matches.
“We’re certainly capable of it and if we can do that and get up the table a bit, we’ll see how the other teams handle the pressure,” said Wright.
“We’ve had a hard time with injuries this season but our players are coming back. There are 65 points still to play for and we want to get our fair share of them.”
For Sunday’s match, professional Ryan Grant is back from holiday while both Mark Hunter and Kevin Bryce are in the squad. Colin Eadie has been named but will face a fitness test while both Ross Logan and former Boroughmuir prop Gavin Cameron will have a run out with the 2nd XV.
Fijian Aca Ratuva (pictured below) had a starring role against Hawick and hopes are high that he can continue his form against Boroughmuir.
The squad is: Allan Robertson, G Lindsay, G Hamilton, B Archibald, R Aitken, R McGowan, Alan Robertson, R Grant, A Moffat, W Davies, B MacFarlane, G Gilchrist, C Eadie, A Ratuva, C Deacons, M Hunter, K Bryce, S Wilson, P Wilson, C Adams, G Calder.
