Shock win saves Endrick seconds

STRATHENDRICK 34

GHK 2ND 5

ENDRICK 2nds ensured their survival in division five with an excellent win against previously unbeaten GHK on Saturday'.

GHK had the wind behind them from the start but they were unable to use it to their advantage against a resolute home defence.

Endrick went in front in 15 minutes when Rory Kerr went over for an unconverted try. The Fintry men kept their lead until 29 minutes had gone, when the visiting stand-off charged down a clearance and followed up to score. Again the kick at goal was missed and the sides turned round at 5-5.

With the wind behind them Endrick dominated the second half and regained their lead after five minutes, when Rory Kerr went in at the corner for his second try. Kyle Campbell put them further ahead in 13 minutes with a well-struck penalty and followed up seven minutes later with a try, which he also converted.

Endrick made full use of their young replacements and seven minutes from the end Aidan Train made his senior debut

Within 15 seconds he was brought into the action when Willie Kay made a break on halfway and looked for support. It was there in the shape of the fresh AT, who was given the ball with the instruction to run. He outstripped the GHK cover to score at the posts, leaving Kyle Campbell an easy kick.

Before the end Paul Ainsworth added Endrick's fifth try and Kyle Campbell added the extra points to give Endrick a very satisfactory result in a very entertaining match.
