Rugby: Endrick lose at Carrick

Carrick 36 Strathendrick 6

After a gap of seven weeks in which they played no competitive rugby, Endrick players were pleased to get back into action at Maybole on Saturday.

Unfortunately they found Carrick, their hosts, in much better nick and after a fairly even first half, the home side’s superior fitness told.

Endrick made a sluggish start but gradually found their way and at the interval they were down 13-6 to Carrick who had scored a try and two penalties against two penalties for Endrick, both kicked by Drew McDonald.

In the second half Endrick’s lack of match practice really told and the Ayrshire side took total control to make the final score 36 - 6 in their favour.

Endrick: R Kerr; G Johnstone, K Campbell, R Bruce, R McLaughlin; D McDonald, R Doyle; C Gibson, T Williams, D Spence, J McLaughlin, S Cuthbertson, A Vickers, J Ogilvy and E MacKay. Replacements: D McGuffie and D Ross.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Endrick are at home to Lenzie in a league fixture, kick-off at 2pm.
