With the Six Nations taking rugby’s centre stage, there was no RBS Premiership action for Stirling County’s 1st XV at the weekend.
A number of the Bridgehaugh squad, however, were wearing the dark blue at Under- 20, Scotland A and Scotland levels over the weekend.
On Friday, four were in the Under-20 squad which met England in Plymouth – Jamie Bhatti, Ruaridh Leishman, Rory Hughes and Adam Ashe.
The game ended in a 15-6 victory for England but Adam Ashe had an outstanding performance at No.8 at the heels of a beaten pack of forwards.
Later that same evening, Sean Kennedy played for Scotland A against England Saxons at Kingston Park, Newcastle.
On a wild night the Scots won 13-9 with Sean having an excellent game, providing a quick and accurate service for the Scottish backs, as well as making one trademark searing break.
County’s Ist XV had a useful run-out at Murrayfield Wanderers last Thursday, scoring seven tries while on Saturday, the 2nd XV went down 26-11 at Boroughmuir in National Reserve League One.
County’s Under-18s won their first round of the National Youth League Cup against Hamilton by 57-5 at Bridgehaugh, and next up for the holders is an away quarter-final against Highland in Inverness.
On Sunday, County’s Women maintained their 100% record in Premier Two with a bonus-point win at Dundee University
County’s Under-15s thrashed their counterpart from Howe of Fife by 70 points to secure a quarter-final in the Caledonia Cup.
