Seniors to the fore

ANOTHER busy weekend for Stirling Triathlon Club saw the seniors getting back in on the action. With three athletes taking part in the Ayr Duathlon (run, bike, run) and two of them making it onto the podium. Dave Oliphant had a good result in his season opener and first event in his new category to finish third supervet. Julian Rose came home second in the very competitive Vet category.

Meanwhile up at the Lochaber Marathon club member and ultra running specialist Hugh Kerr posted a very respectable 2hrs 58mins in what would have seemed a very short event by his standards. also competing, as part of his training for Ironman Barcelona later in the year was Andre Reibig, who finished in 3hrs 15mins.

In the junior ranks the club again had six juniors racing this week, in round five of the Scottish Aquathlon League, taking place in Hamilton.

Catherine and Helen Mitchell made it two in row by winning their age groups again, Mathew Crawford finished third in his age group while Laura Maskrey finished a solid 6th in her first race. Josh Murchie won his age group and Cliona Ferguson finished off the day by winning her age group.

Not to be outdone, three members took part in the adult race, Gordon Crawford won the event overall as well as the Vet category, Billy Mitchell finished 5th just holding off a fast running Alec Murchie who finished 6th.
