Triathlon club facing first national of the season

AFTER the recent successes for Stirling Triathlon Club athletes, focus now moves to first Scottish Championship of the year.

As part of the Stirling Triathlon on June 7 at Stirling University, over 200 under 17’s will take part in the biggest junior race of the season. With around 25 club athletes taking part and national titles in 12 categories at stake this is sure to be an action packed day.

The junior event starts at 1pm, with the adult open and novice race beforehand starting at 8am. With over 400 taking part in this it all adds up to the biggest triathlon day in the country, three events, 600plus racers and over 1000 spectators.

The top senior athletes will start around 10.30am and finish around 11.30am. Firm favourite in the men’s event is Stirling Triathlon clubs very own Fraser Cartmell, who has just returned from California where he has been training and racing for the past two months.

New members are always welcome with club information on the website at www.stirlingtri.co.uk or come along to one of the sessions and speak to one of the coaches: Tuesday swimming, The Peak, 7.30pm; Saturday swimming, The Peak, 7.30am: Wednesday running Kings Park tennis Courts, 7pm.

Remaining club events are as follows: Stirling Senior and Junior Duathlon and Scottish Duathlon Championships on October 11.
