Triathlon club sees record numbers compete

STIRLING Triathlon Club's annual triathlon saw a record number of competitors take part in what was the largest triathlon in Scotland.

Club members Fraser Cartmell, Stuart Fraser and Rory Downie made it a home club one, two three in the men’s race and the club were well represented generally with another nine athletes taking part.

In the Scottish Schools Triathlon Championships, organised as part of the Stirling Triathlon, the club also had an excellent showing with 22 under 16’s taking part managing to win nine medals. Winning Gold were Helen Mitchell, Josh Murchie, Cliona Ferguson and Conor Kerr. Winning Silver were Catherine Mitchell, Gavin Alexander, Keri Greg and Fionn Hargreaves, with Craig Coull winning bronze.

Elsewhere, Rhona Calander won her age group at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event at Fort William, then took part in the Schools Triathlon Championship.
