Primary pupils’ track and field event
TWENTY-TWO schools took part in the Stirling Primary Schools Track and Field championships at Stirling University.
The annual event included sprints, relays, middle distance running, javelin and long jump for more than 200 P6-7 pupils.
Dunblane’s Newton Primary School clinched the team title, with George Stanger setting a new championship record in the boys’ 150m and Catriona Laing equalling the girls’ 150m record.
Lachie Fingland of Callander PS broke the boys’ long jump record.
80m: boys Brian Irbesbu (Dunblane) 11.45s, girls Esther Ross (Drymen) 11.65s.
150m: boys George Stanger (Newton) 20.28s, girls Catriona Laing (Newton) 21.00s.
600m: boys Ruairi Henderson (Bridge of Allan) 1.51.01, girls Heather Scott (Newton) 1.57.40.
Relay: boys St Ninians 61.50, girls (equal_ Newton and Drymen 63.90.
Turbo javelin: boys Juan Tello (Bridge of Allan) 19.47m, girls Caitlin Villamueva (Bannockburn) 14.55m.
Long jump: boys Lachie Fingland (Callander) 4.30m, girls Jenna Innes (Doune) 3.70m.
The event is organised by Active Stirling’s sports development team.
